The LaMunt Crew has finally reunited and, as always, did so in great style.
Our crew event kicked off on Friday, July 18th, with a cheerful lunch: a moment full of laughter and stories, where we shared the experiences of the past months.
It was the perfect start to a weekend with around 35 women, whose energy inspired us to dive into an inspiring afternoon: a behind-the-scenes journey into the making of our LaMunt products.
We gathered in Montebelluna, where our product development center of excellence is located; a satellite office of our main headquarters in Bolzano. This area holds a significant place in the history of Italy’s outdoor industry: for decades, many of the sector’s most skilled professionals have come from here.
The workshop offered a unique opportunity to dive deep into the heart of our creative and production process - to understand the timelines, methods, and above all, the people who make it possible for us to proudly wear LaMunt every day.
Friday afternoon – Montebelluna:
A cradle of ideas, prototypes, sketches, color boards, cuts, and adjustments, was our starting point.
The afternoon began with an overview of the time required to develop a garment: each phase demands care and attention - from the initial idea to the search for inspiration, from style discussions to the selection of colors and materials, from listening to the market to the first sketches, final designs, technical tests, and the project’s final presentation. It’s a journey that takes about two years. A long time, yes, but one that results in quality, innovation, and passion for details.
Just like on a mountain hike, creating a garment involves flat stretches, strenuous climbs, and moments when it feels like you’re going backward. But it’s precisely these challenging stages, and the sweat they require, that make us truly appreciate the final result: a garment that accompanies us and represents who we are.
Our Crew Members, enthusiastic and curious, were divided into groups, each engaged in a step-by-step journey through the different phases of the production process.
In the first room, thanks to Erika, we delved into the complex world of material selection, the production of fabrics and finishes. Videos and technical explanations helped us understand the criteria for selecting fabrics and how they are tested for water resistance, abrasion, and impact.
In the second room, Michela, with the valuable support of the seamstresses in the sample room, showed us how prototypes are born: from cutting the fabric using patterns, to the taping process of our beloved Linda model. Taping a jacket involves manually applying a waterproof tape along the garment’s internal seams, thus ensuring its waterproofness. This is a fundamental process, especially for ski and trekking jackets, where protection from the elements is essential.
This process is not automated: there are no machines capable of performing such a precise and complex job. Every jacket that requires taping is therefore worked on individually, with careful attention and artisanal care.
Once again, it is possible to recognize and value the manual work that makes each garment unique. For this reason, in this room we also learned how important it is to take care of our garments so that they last over time and maintain their performance.
In the third room, the groups took part in a workshop focused on pants. The product team wanted to understand which features matter most to women, so they could incorporate them into the next product briefing. We discussed what each of us looks for in this essential piece of clothing, talked about fit, and explored the details that ultimately make the difference when it comes to making a purchase.
At the end of this intense, stimulating afternoon, we headed to Agordo for a dinner together, followed by a well-deserved rest; both essential to face the following days at their best.
Saturday - heading off to discover the Dolomites:
On Saturday, July 19th, full of energy and enthusiasm, we set out to explore the Dolomites of Belluno.
Upon arriving at the hamlet of Caracoi Agoin, we were welcomed by Alice, our guide for these two days of trekking. Alongside her were Marzia and Paola from Donne di Montagna, an organization that LaMunt proudly supports as the main sponsor. They share with us a love and respect for the mountain environment, as well as the desire to accompany women in achieving their most significant milestones in the mountains.
The day was beautiful, the sun was shining, and a gentle breeze encouraged us to tackle the ascent with even more determination. After about 6 kilometers and 700 meters of elevation gain, we reached Rifugio Sasso Bianco at 1840 meters, a place we know well and hold close to our hearts. It was here that we accompanied Elena, the refuge keeper, during the filming of a documentary dedicated to women who have chosen life in mountain huts. [Click here]
After some chatting and soaking up the sun, we enjoyed a refreshing lunch, and with our bellies nicely full, some of us continued exploring the area together with Alice and Donne di Montagna, while others savored a well-deserved moment of relaxation in the sun. Upon returning from the walk, Alice treated all of us to a special yoga lesson. Embraced by the mountains, with a view of Mount Civetta and caressed by the wind, we had the chance to reconnect with our bodies and nature in a moment of deep harmony.
The day ended with a warm and delicious dinner at the refuge, crowned by sweets, laughter, and board games. However, the call of the morning alarm invited us to go to bed early.
Sunday – reaching the peak:
Sunday morning greeted us with the aroma of coffee and a new adventure on the horizon. With the first rays of sun, we set off towards the summit of Sasso Bianco: about 500 meters of elevation gain over just under 3 kilometers from the refuge to the peak, two hours of walking, effort and satisfaction. At 2.400 meters above sea level, the view was simply breathtaking.
Being there, all together, made the moment even more special. The sense of unity, friendship, and sharing that has always accompanied us felt even stronger, amplified by that summit reached step by step. Adding even more significance is a historical fact that fills us with pride: in 1872, during her journey exploring the Dolomites, the English writer and journalist Amelia Edwards, a true pioneer as one of the first women to explore mountains on her own, reached the summit of Sasso Bianco.
After filling our eyes (and hearts) with unforgettable panoramas, we began our descent. Some of us treated ourselves to one last boost of energy by dipping our feet into the icy mountain waters of a fountain; then, all together, we shared emotional hugs, saying goodbye with affection.
With new memories in our hearts, renewed awareness, and fresh energy, we are ready to return to our daily lives with a different kind of strength - one that only nature, friendship, and walking together can give.
With the certainty that together we women truly are a force of nature, we say goodbye with the promise to meet again next year. Ready for new peaks to conquer.
